What are full dentures?

Dentures are removable plates that hold artificial teeth for an entire arch. It is one of the most common solutions for replacing missing teeth. Dentures can replace an entire arch (upper or lower) of teeth, or only replace a few (partial).

What are the different types of dentures?

There are no two dentures alike! If you are missing an entire arch of teeth, its important to know that you have options. There are three main types of full dentures:

  • Dentures made by a Denturist: Denturists are those who went to school specifically to make dentures. They typically take the necessary tooth impressions themselves, and then proceed to make the denture.
  • Dentures made by a Dentist: Dentists go to school and learn a multitude of different dental procedures, one being the fabrication of dentures. Dentists typically take the impression of your mouth, and then send the impression off to the lab for the denture to be fabricated.
  • Custom Dentures at Bridgewater Dental Centre: Custom dentures are a more complex denture than traditional dentures. Traditional dentures made by a dentist or denturist are made from an impression of your mouth. Typically, there is no input on how you want your smile to look. Custom dentures are fabricated from impressions, however before the final denture is completed, there are various wax try-ins that mimic the look and feel of your new denture. These try-ins allow for our team to adjust any areas that may feel uncomfortable and also modify the look of the teeth. Numerous try-ins may be necessary, and once you are happy with the look and feel of your denture, it is sent for processing at the lab. Your custom denture will fit and look like natural teeth!

How much do dentures cost?

Since there are many different types of dentures, it is expected for their price range to vary. Dentures made by a denturist typically range from $700-$1100 each.
