Root Canals

Bridgewater Dental Centre offers clients affordable dental care by treating severely decayed and infected teeth with a root canal.

When tooth decay is left untreated it can affect the pulp of the tooth and cause an infection. If inflammation is left untreated, it can cause pain or lead to an abscess.

During a root canal, the inflamed or infected pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned, disinfected, and then filled and sealed with a tooth colored filling. After restoration, the tooth continues to function like any other tooth.

Often, dentists have a hard time effectively cleaning and disinfecting the inside of the tooth canals. If a root canal is not fully completed, remaining bacteria and infection can lead to further inflammation and increased risk of developing an abscess.
